MY STORY
Alondra Villacorta is a fine artist who shares her journey through deeply personal and expressive work. She was born in El Salvador, one of the world’s smallest countries, and grew up in a household filled with art and creativity. The third of four children, she was raised alongside both of her parents and her grandfather—a remarkable and well-rounded fine artist, cartoonist, and calligrapher.
One of her earliest memories is standing beside her grandfather’s drawing table, captivated as he painted portraits and landscapes in rich oils. It was there that she first discovered her love for art, quietly absorbing his process and developing a deep appreciation for art.
At 14, her life took a major turn when her family moved to the United States. In high school, she explored a wide range of art classes and mediums, drawn to each in different ways. Still, it wasn’t until college that she chose to pursue graphic design as a career, setting aside drawing and painting as something more personal.
Years later, a profound loss shifted everything. A devoted dog lover, Alondra had shared her life with several rescued German Shepherds. In 2022, she lost one of her dearest companions, Maya, to cancer. In that moment of grief, she found herself returning to painting.
She reached for her watercolors, dusted off her brushes, and created a portrait of Maya. The process was deeply healing, allowing her to honor her memory in a way words could not. What began as a personal act of remembrance soon grew into something more. She began creating portraits for friends and family, finding joy in capturing not only the likeness of each animal, but their presence—the quiet spirit that makes them who they are. From there, her work naturally expanded into both custom pet portraits and original paintings inspired by wildlife and the beauty of nature.
Today, her work brings together her lifelong connection to art and her deep bond with animals. Whether painting wildlife or creating custom portraits, she aims to capture the beauty, individuality, and the essence that makes each one unique. In many ways, her journey has come full circle—honoring the influence of her grandfather while following a path that is entirely her own.
