My Story

I'm Alondra Villacorta, and I'd like to take a moment to share my journey with you. I was born in El Salvador, one of the world's tiniest countries, and I grew up in a household filled with art and creativity. I was the third one of four, and my family included both parents and my grandfather, a remarkable and well-rounded fine artist, cartoonist, and calligrapher.
 

One of my earliest memories is standing by my grandfather's drawing table, captivated by his skill as he painted portraits and landscapes in rich oils. It was there that I first discovered my love for art, and I couldn't help but catch the artistic bug from him.

When I was 14, my life took a major turn as my family and I moved to the United States. Throughout high school, I eagerly explored art classes with various mediums. I couldn't pick a favorite – I cherished them all. But it wasn't until college that I made a decision: I chose to pursue Graphic Design as a career, leaving drawing and painting as hobbies. However, something significant happened a few years ago. I've always been a devoted dog lover and have had the privilege of sharing my life with several rescued German Shepherds. In 2022, I suffered the loss of one of my dearest companions, Maya, to cancer. This heart-wrenching experience stirred something deep within me. It brought me back to my artistic roots.
 

I reached for my watercolors, dusted off my brushes, and decided to create a portrait of Maya. The process was healing and allowed me to cherish her memory profoundly. Inspired by this experience, I began crafting pet portraits for friends and family, finding immense joy in bringing the personalities of their beloved animals to life on paper.
 

Now, I'm excited to share my passion with you. My journey has come full circle, merging my love for art with my deep affection for animals. Through custom watercolor pet portraits, I aim to capture the unique bonds between pets and their human companions, just as my grandfather once did with his oils. It's a heartfelt endeavor that allows me to pay tribute to the extraordinary connections we share with our pets.
